Noted FASD educator Barbara M. Wybrecht will be at our Platteville house October 3-8 to conduct a staff training.

“The purpose of the training is to raise awareness and to make sure our staff is current and using the most effective strategies with our kids,” said Gigi Davidson, president of FASD Communities, a non-profit dedicated to providing housing for young adults with FASD, a developmental disability resulting from prenatal exposure to alcohol. “We are fortunate to have someone of Barbara’s education and experience.”

Weybrecht, a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Nursing ,has presented at more than 900 workshops and seminars. She is a past recipient of the Excellence Award, given by the National  Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS). In addition to her professional credentials, she is also a parent to son Rob, adopted in 1973 and the first infant in the U.S. to be diagnosed at birth with the syndrome.  They live in Grand Rapids, Mich.
